Why Social Anxiety Treatment is so Critical

By Robert Hardy

Within the group of panic disorders, one of the many disorders is social anxiety. Social anxiety occurs when people find themselves suffering from panic attack symptoms when they are in a certain or common social situation.

One of two things can basis people who suffer from social anxiety not to search for treatment: those that are not diagnosed and those that tend to pull out from situations that make them scared. Here is why neither of these things are idyllic:

* If you are suffering from a social anxiety disorder, and you do not search for social anxiety treatment, chances are you will find yourself moving back from friends, family, work, and social situations.

* Human beings are social creatures, and we need communication with others of our species, in order to live fit lives.

* As we withdraw more from society, and our fears, we segregate ourselves.

* Remoteness can lead to more disorders, like depression, that, not like social anxiety, can be unsafe, or even life threatening.

The number one basis of suicides and suicide attempts is untreated or undiagnosed depression.

It is not reasonable to suppose social anxiety disorder to be cured on it's own. And without treatment, it is quite feasible that the disorder can get ever more worse. It will take some action in order to pull off a real cure, but it is quite promising to do so with some of the programs presented today.

As you can see, the risks of not looking for social anxiety treatment by far offset the benefits. Rather than suffer in silence, and run the hazard of developing depression as you retreat from scary situations, speak to a medical professional, and find a treatment plan that works for you.

You do not need to continue to suffer from social anxiety. Learn about natural, drug free treatments that have helped thousands to cure this dreaded condition and begin living a typical life in no time. - 22736

Please... Stop Snoring!

By Martin Roman

Is it possible to stop snoring? Before you can determine the answer to that question, you must first uncover the cause of your snoring. Snoring happens when there is an obstruction in your airway. This obstruction can be in your nasal passages or in the back of your throat in an area called the pharynx.

It is this obstruction that causes the quivering sound. The underlying cause may be a narrow pharynx, a congested nasal cavity, age, among other things. Overall, it is difficult for one to stop snoring before the actual cause of the snoring has been identified.

Medical research has shown that a significant percentage of the world's population grapples with snoring. The effects may be direct (you are the person struggling with the condition), or indirect (you are a partner, roommate, parent or sibling of the one who snores). Little wonder then as to why there is a growing demand for solutions that have been proven effective if one wants to stop snoring.

If you snore, the quality of your sleep suffers. If your sleeping partner snores, your sleep quality suffers as well. Snoring can become such a problem that it strains relationships. In fact, some couples resort to sleeping in separate bedrooms because one spouse cannot tolerate being kept awake by snoring. Many people would greatly benefit from a snoring cure.

Remedies to this problem range from simple inexpensive ones to complex and costly alternatives. Note, however, that expensive does not necessarily mean effective and cheap does not necessarily mean unreliable.

The best snoring cure is to make lifestyle changes. Limit your alcohol intake, especially in the last few hours before bedtime because alcohol allows your muscles to become over-relaxed and your pharynx collapses after you fall asleep. Give up smoking, as this has been linked to a greater incidence of snoring. Most importantly, lose weight. Just losing a few pounds can make a big difference in your snoring. When you are overweight, there is too much fat tissue in your neck and around your throat. This causes it to collapse easily. Not only that, but your extra weight presses against your chest and throat when you lie down. You don't have to wait until you get thin to experience results. You may be able to stop snoring after losing just a few pounds. Besides, healthy eating and exercise is good for you in other ways, too.

The proper sleeping position can be an effective sleeping cure. You should try sleeping with the head of your bed elevated. You can do this by purchasing an adjustable bed, raising the head of your bed up on blocks, or putting a wedge under your mattress. When you sleep with your head elevated, it relieves pressure against your throat and chest which improves the air flow into and out of your lungs and may even help you stop snoring for good.

If none of the about natural stop snoring remedies work, you should talk to your doctor. He will be able to advise you about over-the-counter or prescription medication that might be able to help you stop snoring. If medication does not help, your doctor may want you to undergo surgery as a permanent snoring cure. - 22736

What It Is: Cuff Tendonitis - And How Do You Seek Treatment?

By Tom Nicholson

rotator cuff tendonitis is a common type of sports injury that many individuals over 40 years of age may suffer. Common terms for cuff tendonitis are tennis shoulder, pitchers shoulder and swimmers shoulder. Repetitive movements such as those associated with having the arms overhead, such as pitching a baseball can cause this condition.

The tendons of the shoulders may become inflamed by overuse or misuse causing cuff tendonitis. You do not have to be an avid sports player for tendons to tear causing cuff tendonitis. While simply rolling over in bed and even landing on the shoulder while falling may injure tendons.

Cuff tendonitis is classified as acute or chronic. Chronic tendonitis can develop over years and afflicts people who perform the same overhead motion repeatedly, like weight lifters and athletes. Acute cuff tendonitis is the result of an injury that stretches, tears, or ruptures the tendons in your shoulder.

Symptoms of chronic cuff tendonitis include shoulder pain that is worse at night, pain that worsens over time, shoulder weakness, and inability to lift the arm out to the side or over the head. Acute cuff tendonitis causes sudden severe pain and muscle spasms. The tendon may bleed and cause bruising.

The damage of cuff tendonitis and its severity will determine the best treatment. However, you can use ibuprofen to reduce inflammation as well as ice pack applications for swelling and pain, to treat the condition at home. Surgical repair may be required for tendon tears. The tendon must have time for rest in order to heal for either acute or chronic conditions.

Physical therapy is used to treat tendonitis and to help prevent it from recurring. Exercises are prescribed that strengthen the rotator cuff muscles. If pain is too severe to do the exercises, steroids may be injected into the joint to help relieve swelling and pain so the shoulder regains full range of motion.

The various forms of treatment for cuff tendonitis are generally effective. Most people regain normal use of their arm and shoulder and are able to resume the activities engaged in before the injury. Severe tendon tears and injuries in older people take longer to heal.

When cuff tendonitis is not permitted to heal properly, it can lead to bursitis, the inflammation of a shoulder cavity filled with fluid. Bursa functions to reduce friction while moving the muscles and tendons of the shoulder joints. You will experience limited arm movement and pain when the bursa is inflamed.

There is not a lot you can do to prevent cuff tendonitis. Try to avoid repetitive movements that strain your tendons. Build muscle strength in your shoulder muscles. Be cautious of landing on your shoulder when playing sports.

Generally, cuff tendonitis is not serious; however, it can prove to be painful and annoying. Unless the pain is continual and severe, you can treat it at home; otherwise, you should consult with a medical professional. - 22736

Simvastatin Tinnitus: The Shocking Link

By Thomas Coleman

Simvastatin was originally launched by the multinational Merck/Schering Plough in January, 2008 to treat cholesterol related cardiac problems either singularly or in association with Ezetimibe. In the US, it is commonly known as Zocor. It is believed that it increases the level of high-density lipoprotein that is considered 'good' cholesterol for all those who have heart problems, to lower the 'bad' cholesterols and triglycerides. It cuts down complex medical procedures to open blocked arteries apart from the fact that it would substantially diminish severe chest pain that is caused by angina pectoris. This is believed to lower the risk of stroke, sudden heart attack or death resulting from coronary heart diseases. The negative effects of the drug are many such as skeletal problem & neuromuscular for CPK elevation, pain in the stomach for less than 1%, fatigue, dizziness, dyspepsia, constipation, increased transaminases, pruritus, vertigo, weakness, diarrhea, nausea, headache and thrombocytopenia.

The FDA's Test Results connecting Simvastatin & Tinnitus

Negative public opinion all over the US compelled the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to communicate relevant information about the initial results of the effect of a combination high dose of Simvastatin and Ezetimibe vs. Simvastatin singularly on the Atherosclerotic Process in all those people who had Heterozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia. 720 people were selected for the double-blind, randomized test that spanned 2 years. Patients were exposed to Ezetimibe 10 mg/Simavastanin 80 mg and Simavastanin (Zocor) singularly. The key endpoint of the test involved the mean change in Carotid Intima-media Thickness (CIMT), which represents a surrogate endpoint, which is supposed to render a substantial reduction in the potential cardiovascular eventualities in the near future.

The experiment was merely of an imaging nature and was not intended for clinical upshots, i.e. stroke, MI, etc. Administering Ezetimibe and Simvastatin together reduced LDL cholesterol more efficiently than when Simavastanin was used as a stand alone drug. Yet, even with Ezetimibe and Simvastatin used together, there was negligible change in CIMT. Negative effects were almost similar in both cases.

The use of Simvastatin caused serious side effects, and reports started pouring in from all over the US. Most patients complained about persistent buzzing in the ears, which is a sure sign of tinnitus, dizziness, fatigue, and many other problems. Numerous tests like ECG and blood count were carried out to isolate the symptoms. But all tests proved normal. So, it was generally concluded that the use of Simvastatin was causing all the side effects. A patient disobeyed his physician and stopped taking the medicine voluntarily. Magically, the symptoms of tinnitus vanished within three months.

The effects of Simvastatin can be delayed, as the following case history will show. A 52 year old male was diagnosed with T2 Diabetes and was advised by the attending physician to take Simavastanin 20 mg per day. After six months, the patient suddenly developed tinnitus along with vertigo and other related distressing symptoms. Loss of concentration resulted in his inability to drive. Immediate memory loss made his family life distressful, as he could not recall conversations with his wife. After running a series of tests like Blood test, ECG and even MRI, the root cause was still unknown as all tests yielded normal results. But the moment Simavastanin was substituted by some other drug, almost magically the tinnitus disappeared.

A 62-year old female patient, in another case history, was diagnosed with high level of cholesterol and occasional angina pain in the chest. She was put on Simvastatin 20 mg/day. Within a very short time of starting on the medicine, she started having continuous ringing tone in both ears. She refused to run the entire range of tests, as her doctor had advised. She did a check-up with her ENT specialist and was found to have developed tinnitus in both the ears.

It is now proven by the above illustrations that using Simavastanin causes tinnitus, though the time taken for this side effect to surface can vary. Other more serious side effects are common, too.

The Correct Treatment - Simvastatin & Tinnitus

Conventional medication such as Simvastatin does not identify or cure the main causes of tinnitus. They identify merely the external symptoms and try to provide relief for those. They provide temporary relief, but never eradicate the disease fully, causing the symptoms to re-appear. The side effects of such medication are health hazards. The solution lies in taking resort to holistic remedies that seek out and eradicate the root causes that result in the symptoms. Once the root causes are found and nullified, the symptoms disappear, too. - 22736

Symptoms of Parvo - What to Do

By Geraldine Dimarco

Before you check out dog parvo symptoms, you must first know what it is, what it does and how it is spread. This virus was initially found in'78 and within a two year time span it spread worldwide. Over the years the parvovirus has mutated into two different strains and a third may be evident in Vietnam, Italy and Spain. Each case of canine parvovirus Or CPV comes from the first two strains. At first it was felt that this virus would develop into feline panleukopenia, a feline parvovirus, but there is no evidence of this. All species have their own unique parvovirus that cannot be spread outside of the species.

It is evident that parvovirus cannot be spread from a cat to a dog or from a bird to a cat. However, it can be spread by contact. For instance, if your cat would wander through your neighbor's yard and would pick up the virus on her feet, she can track it inside of your house and infect your dog. Sadly enough, my neighbour's puppy contracted parvo virus. The puppy had all of the classic dog parvo symptoms, yet my neighbour really did not know what was wrong until he took the puppy to the vet. Once he did that, treatment began immediately. After several days of intensive treatment, the puppy was free to come home.

The parvovirus works in one of two ways through the intestines or the heart. The intestinal infection is picked up by the animal through oral contact with contaminated feces. In other words through the feces of another canine who is infected. The virus then attacks rapidly dividing cells in the lymph nodes, intestinal crypts and bone marrow. This will allow normally occurring bacteria from the intestine to enter the blood stream making the animal septic. The virus will be shed in the stool for up to three weeks making this disease very contagious to non-vaccinated pets.

The cardio form of this infection is often seen in puppies that are infected from the womb or shortly after birth. It is well worth noting that the cardiac form of CPV is not as common since the mother passes immunity on to her puppies from birth. The parvo virus then attacks the heart in the infected pup and death results shortly thereafter.

Dog parvo symptoms usually present themselves within 3 to 10 days of contact. They include the following: lethargy, vomiting, fever and diarrhea. The diarrhea can cause severe dehydration and secondary infections. The dog will not usually die from the virus but from a secondary infection.

Survival rate depends on how quickly CPV is diagnosed and treatment is begun. When the case is not caught early the best treatment option is an IV through which fluids are pushed to re-hydrate the animal more quickly, in addition anti-nausea and antibiotic shots may be given intramuscular. The prognosis is good with proper care but an absolute death sentence without it. There have been a few reports that the human antiviral, Tamiflu, can be effective in treating CPV but there are no studies to substantiate this. A veterinarian will advise you to give your pet a parvo shot about eight weeks after they are weaned. With the prevalence of the virus and its ability to kill some precaution should be taken to protect your canine. - 22736

Picking a Good Pair of Mens Running Shoes

By Davis Whayne

When you are going to buy mens jogging shoes, the very last thing that you would like to do is to buy them quickly and without any thought. If you buy mens running shoes this way, you're going to find the shoes that you buy may not fit your feet well. Here are some tips that you must consider when buying running shoes for a person.

The Foot Knows

If you are going to buy some mens running shoes, then you've got to look at the features of your foot. The only way that you can do this is to wet each of your feet and then step on something to make an impression, like cardboard or paper. If there's a huge band that connects the ball of your foot and heal, your arches are normal and you do not need much technology in your shoe. If the band is narrow, then you are something known as under-pronated and you're going to want cushioning. If the outline is of the complete foot, then your arches are low and you need more support.

Get a Midsole

This is the most vital thing when you are selecting mens running shoes. You need to look for PU to supply the maximum support or EVA for the maximum cushioning. PU shoes are going to have less adaptability and the EVA might compress as they're used.

Outsoles and Heels

The mens trainers should have flex ridges and split heels so that the foot moves properly. In the outsoles. The heel desires to fit comfortably and your foot should not be moving around inside the shoe. If you want stability, then the heel counter should be carbon. If you need cushioning, then the heel counter should be blown rubber.

Lasts and Medial Posts

If a man has normal arches, they do not need mens jogging shoes that have medial posts, and they can select shoes that have semi-curved or straight lasts. Men with over-pronate feet need to have medial posts that aren't reducing flexibility and lasts that are curved or semi-curved. Runners that are under-pronate should have medial support and should have shoes that have lasts that are curved or semi-curved.

Pick the Type that is's Right

When you're buying mens trainers, be aware of the way your foot is made. If your arches are ordinary, then the jogging shoes should just be cushioned. If you have low arches, then trainers with motion control are necessary so that you are avoiding injury. Runners that are over-pronate need to pick jogging shoes that are a combination of good support and cushioning.

it isn't difficult to see there is a lot more to purchasing shoes than just going out and trying them on. You should keep these suggestions in mind when you are purchasing them so that you have shoes that are cosy and that are defending your feet when you're running in them. Avoid injury while running starts with the running shoes that you are wearing. - 22736

How to Get Rid of Nail Fungus

By Anna Latrobe

Suffering with nail fungus, can be an embarrassing condition, which can have an effect on both toe and finger nails. It is caused by a nail fungi which gets beneath your nail bed through a slight cut or slit in your skin.

Once you have caught the fungi the nail starts to discolor, the shine of the nail disappears and the surface becomes rough, the edges of your nail start to crumble and eventually the nail loosens from the nail bed.

Even though these symptoms can be extremely aggravating to live with, you need not continue to suffer as you can treat this condition through various means. But it is essential to begin to treat it immediately otherwise it will spread as it feeds from your skin and nails and is highly infectious.

There are people who try to cure their nail fungus by taking off their entire nail, which will only offer a short term solution because when the nail regrows it will grow with the infection. Another important factor to consider is that when you have this condition you are putting others at risk, and risking it spreading to other parts of your body. Obviously the consequences of this are that you should find a way to treat the fungus infection before you cause it to spread.

Treating nail fungus with conventional medications can mean waiting a while to see results, from 6 to 12 weeks, and the medication is available either topically or orally.

If you go to see your doctor and they don't offer you medication they may suggest removing your nail or using photodynamic therapy, which is form of laser treatment that kills the infection.

Though these treatments may be successful they frequently do not kill the fungus, rather they treat the symptoms and in some instances may have bad side effects. As a result you ideally need to be using a natural product that works from the inside out, and kills the fungus, by increasing your natural anti-inflammatory and infection fighting capabilities, in order that you can fight the nail fungus without experiencing unpleasant side effects.

The best way to treat nail fungus naturally is to use a natural oil. An oil that is renowned for it's healing capabilities is Tea Tree Oil, and when it is used with other potent botanical ingredients, it provides a great way to treat nail fungus without any harmful side effects. - 22736
